In November 2017 teams from Mandalay School for the Deaf Charity traveled to Myanmar to work with their colleagues in both the Yangon and Mandalay Schools for the Deaf.  They were joined for the first time by colleagues from the Hear the World Foundation.  In a very busy two weeks much was achieved.  All the new intake into both the schools had detailed hearing assessments and 85 new hearing aids were fitted.  Special attention was paid to addressing the problems of ear mould fitting.  In Yangon it was very encouraging to see that teaching methods had adapted to the fact that many children now have high-quality hearing aids fitted.  Wendy McCracken, a Professor of Deaf Education from Manchester, spent valuable time with teachers at both schools.  The work also not have been possible without the enthusiastic assistance of the ENT Departments in both cities.
